This month’s ‘Meet the Team’ interview features Development Team Leader, Che Letton as he explains his role, his hobbies and a few of his favourite things...
Tell us about yourself
Where to start? I’m 48, married with two daughters. I’m a proud Welshman but gradually moved south until I hit Devon, where I’ve lived for over 20 years. I wouldn’t say I’m a full-blown geek, but I am a Radio Amateur full license holder which most people think earns me a high geek status!
What does your job entail?
I’ve been working at Dealerweb for over four years, where my job is to develop and support Volvo with their bespoke sales and lead management system - Kompass, which was created and developed by Dealerweb in 2011.
It’s a busy time for me and my team as we are currently in the process of working with Volvo to develop the next big leap in Kompass’ evolution – a large-scale reengineering project that will see Volvo and many of its dealers using a faster, more intuitive and fully adaptive system.
What do you like most about your role?
I love working with Volvo - over the years, we have got to know each other well. We’re like an extended team and it’s always a highlight when we get to meet-up and workshop at the Volvo headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden.
I also enjoy the coding. I have enjoyed coding since I was about nine and first discovered computers in primary school using the now-classic BBC Model B. The new Kompass update will see me working with a wide variety of new and innovative technologies which I’m really looking forward to!
And, finally, a few of your favourite things….?
Book
This is a tricky one. I’m a big Terry Pratchett fan and have enjoyed all his books, from the Discworld to the Long Earth series.
Film
Hmmm…most recently I really enjoyed ‘Shazam!’ which has proved to be a family favourite already. But I also love a good heist movie, or a bit of sci-fi.
Place
I’ve been a few places in my time, but ultimately my favourite place is sat on my patio in the sun with a G&T!
Car
An easy one! It has to be the Lotus Carlton.
